ORCS Stip 25 Clarification

The Criminal Case Committee would like to clarify one of the revisions in the final (ORCS) version of State v. Martin that has led to multiple inquiries. Stipulation 25 is  designed to explain how the labels contained in Exhibit 13 would look if taken off the canister and laid flat. The measurements in Stipulation 25 and Exhibit 7 are to be read as if the label was on a standard size canister of cleaning supplies like Comet or Bar Keeper’s Friend. It is not a requirement that the printed version of Exhibit 13 meet those specifications.

Stipulation 25 was not intended to lead to disputes in trial or during captains’ meeting about the size of a printed Exhibit 13. Rather, it was intended to preclude theories that claimed the label was too small to read or that the bottle/canister of oxalic acid was tiny.

Note: “All parties agree” to what the label would look like laid flat. The stipulation does not say that Exhibit 13 has to be printed to fit those specifications.

To avoid issuing a new case and having teams reprint case materials, please keep this message in mind when competing at ORCS. AMTA representatives will also receive this message.
