Neal Schuett, Esq.
Neal first became involved in mock trial during his early high school years in the Des Moines area. However, after leaving the program his sophomore year in high school, Neal didn't compete again until the fall of 1999 at the University of Iowa. He has been involved with mock trial and AMTA ever since. Competing for Iowa from 1999-2003, Neal was a member of both National Championship teams. He went to the College of Law at the University of Iowa until 2006, where he earned his J.D.; he stayed on at Iowa as an assistant coach and then as head coach during law school. From 2006-2009, Neal coached Iowa with his wife Melissa.
In 2009, Neal moved to southwest Ohio to join Haughey & Deters, LLC. The following year he began coaching at Miami University; in the fall of 2011 he also began teaching at the Farmer School of Business at Miami. Neal predominately practices criminal defense; he works in the public sector in Butler County doing trial work and criminal appeals for indigent clients on top of his professorial and private practice duties.
